General SEN Paperwork

SEN general paperwork refers to documents used in the administration of special educational needs (SEN) services. These documents include forms for SEN support plans, annual reviews, and education, health, and care plans.

EHCP

An EHC plan (Education, Health and Care plan) is a legally binding document that outlines a child or teenager’s special educational, health, and social care needs, and the provision required to meet those needs. It is person-centered and includes specific, detailed, and quantified provision to help achieve desired outcomes.

Handbooks

A SENCO handbook is a comprehensive guide that provides knowledge, understanding, and practical advice for Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), teachers, headteachers, and governors on effective policy, provision, and practice to meet the diverse needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Plans

SEN pupils may have either a Special Education Needs (SEN) support plan or an Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plan that provides tailored care for their specific needs.

Profiles (Passports)

Profiles and passports are tools used to support the education of students with special educational needs (SEN). They provide a summary of the student’s strengths, needs, and support strategies, and can be used to create a more personalised approach to their learning. These tools can help teachers and support staff understand the student’s individual needs and provide tailored support.

Provisions & Provision Mapping

Provision mapping is a document that outlines the interventions, support, and additional staffing offered to learners requiring additional support within an educational setting, different from the curriculum.

Calendars & Diaries

A SENCO calendar or diary is a tool for special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs) to plan and manage their workload. It includes key dates, tasks, and priorities for the academic year to ensure effective provision for students with special educational needs.

Policies & SEND information reports

A SEND policy is a plan created by schools or organisations to outline how they will support and provide for children with special educational needs and disabilities.  It should cover legal obligations, staff roles, monitoring and evaluation, and details about the school’s aims and objectives.

SMART Targets

SMART targets are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals that provide a clear and structured approach to achieving success.

Governors

School governors are volunteers who oversee and help manage schools. They have three core functions, including planning the strategic direction of the school, overseeing financial performance, and holding school leadership accountable. Governors are involved in driving school improvement and typically attend six meetings per year.

How do I access the SEN Resources?

Just a quick reminder that the resources on the following section are probably copyrighted, so please do not share them with anyone, use them in your school to help your pupils, and if anyone asks or wants a copy, direct them to the website.  We are all for sharing the wealth, but I’m sure you’ll know there are people out there that will pinch stuff, charge people and hand it out.  It’s not great when you can get it for free…

Anyway, enjoy the Free SENCO resources for SENCO paperwork. We will be adding more over time, so make sure to check back regularly to see what’s new!
