SENsible SENCOs Logo encompassing the spirit of all inclusive education, supporting SENCOs with all the hard work they do!

Do you have students who:
• Have great ideas but are unable to express them on paper?
• Struggle to access lesson content?
• Experience frustration or anxiety due to literacy barriers?

We create literacy software for pupils of all abilities, with a strong focus on improving writing outcomes and helping all learners to experience success.

Winner of 11 Bett Awards, Crick Software products are the gold standard literacy and special needs tools. Thousands of schools across the UK are using Clicker and DocsPlus to support their recovery curriculum, boost learning engagement and close attainment gaps.

We make all our tools as accessible as we can, so that learners with disabilities can use the same tools as the rest of the class; by designing with accessibility and inclusion in mind from the beginning, we make software that is better for everyone.

Clicker

Clicker is an innovative reading and writing support tool that is designed for the primary classroom to help children of all abilities achieve rapid and permanent gains in their literacy skills.

At the heart of Clicker sits a child-friendly word processor that offers extensive support to emergent, developing and struggling readers and writers. Using Clicker, pupils can capture their ideas, demonstrate their knowledge, and achieve writing success across the curriculum.

To aid schools as they support pupils’ learning needs, Clicker uses the principles of Universal Design to cater for all learners, particularly those who struggle to access the curriculum or demonstrate their knowledge due to physical or learning difficulties.

With Clicker, every child can improve their writing outcomes and become a more independent learner.

DocsPlus

DocsPlus is our literacy software for secondary schools. It provides the support struggling students need to tackle writing tasks across the curriculum.

DocsPlus features intelligent word prediction, writing frames, graphic organisers and curriculum vocabulary banks, helping students to demonstrate their knowledge and achieve writing success. Its integrated Document Reader reads aloud any PDF or Word document, providing equal access to worksheets and more.

Using DocsPlus Analytics, educators gain a unique insight into each learner’s writing process, helping them make informed decisions about their current support levels and the most effective next steps.

With DocsPlus, students can overcome barriers to progress and access the curriculum with growing independence.

DocsPlus provides students with additional support in lessons day-to-day, which seamlessly transfers to exams with DocsPlus Exam Mode. It’s JCQ approved, saving schools time and money and enabling students to access their exams independently and with confidence.

What do schools say?

Clicker is just so different from anything else out there.

For what you get in Clicker – you might be able to find other products that enable you to do certain aspects, like the talking books or recording activities, but with Clicker, everything’s there all in one place, all child-friendly and accessible – that is just amazing.

I’ve been a SENCo for a long time and year on year, specialist teachers kept saying “Get Clicker, use Clicker, it’s brilliant, it’s fantastic” and over the years that advice has never altered. Whenever I’ve come across anybody who uses Clicker, that’s what I hear – it’s just an amazing tool.”

SENCO, White Hall Academy

Since using Clicker, our pupils believe that they can succeed in writing.

Their overall outcomes and progress has accelerated, and we have had successful internal and district moderations whilst using the program. Our feedback from external professionals have reinforced that Clicker is an inclusive tool and one that has truly supported our children’s writing and overall independence.”

Deputy Head, Lansdowne Primary School

Students who wouldn’t feel comfortable with a human reader benefited from the experience.

We used DocsPlus for the first time this year, instead of another product we had used previously.  DocsPlus was used for over 70 students instead of a human reader.  We plan to use DocsPlus moving forward as a word processor and reader in Split View (some students found this feature this year and loved it as it saved switching from word processor to exam paper). The simplicity is also helpful for ease of transition.Due to the number of students with access requirements it would be expensive and a logistic nightmare to have enough readers for our students at GCSE time.”

Clicker’s had a huge impact… it’s life-changing for some children.

We wanted to give all of our children a way to record their ideas and demonstrate their learning. We wanted to take away their literacy barriers so that they could be more independent and less reliant on an adult

With Clicker’s help they can actively participate alongside their peers, they can record their ideas, and they can show what they know. Clicker enables them to work more independently instead of having an adult next to them. Unfortunately, it’s becoming a reality that less adult support is available for these pupils, so having Clicker bridges that gap and helps everyone to achieve.”

Gabrielle Deed

Head of Inclusion, Lyons Hall School

Clicker helps take the physical struggle out of writing and gives my class the freedom to share their understanding and ideas more easily.

Before Clicker, one pupil could barely manage a sentence or two. Now, he’s writing nine to ten sentences with ease! This change has not only improved his writing skills but also boosted his enthusiasm and engagement in lessons.”

This student has completed their end of year assessment in the same subject and got above and beyond what was expected.

I have just started at a new school and I have brought this software in to support not just our Year 11s but with lower years. This is something I am starting to develop and embed into our everyday use, so that students are familiar with this during assessments. I have a particular student who really struggles to read and type/ write. They completed an assessment at the start of the year and struggled to grade as they were using a scribe and had to verbally tell them everything.

This student has completed their end of year assessment in the same subject and got above and beyond what was expected as they could verbalise what they needed to and listen specifically, and repeat listening if needed to, so they fully understood the question to give a more detailed answer.”
